Table of Contents
Tip No. 1: Follow the Top to Bottom Process
Dust, grimes, and spider webs can be piled while the house is vacant or from the previous family who didn’t do a move out cleaning. Get your long dusters and vacuum cleaners and start with the ceiling fans, overhead lighting fixtures, shelving, and other features close to the ceiling. Ceiling fan blades are known for having a residue on the top side. Light fixtures can have a similar build-up that’s hard to notice. Get a high step ladder and look closely to see how much dust you should clean up. Some parts of the light fixtures can be removed for a deeper cleaning, just make sure that you can return it back to its original form. Cobwebs are mostly present on the corners of our ceiling, this should not be ignored unless you want it to be part of your Halloween decoration. Do the same in every room.
Tip No. 2: Freshen Up the Whole Bathroom
It is a nuisance to use a filthy bathroom. Bathroom cleaning is as much about disinfecting as it is about sparkling surfaces. You may use different bathroom cleaners such as grout cleaner, lemon juice for hard water stains on metal objects faucets, water pipes, and showerheads. Dish soap is effective too!
Whiten the tiles and grout. There are lots of products available in the market to help you deal with making those tiles sparkling and having a white grout. Let the cleaner sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Use a big firm brush to scrub the tiles, while a small brush or toothbrush for the grout.
Disinfect Shower and Toilet. Spray a generous amount of dish soap all over the toilet and shower. Scrub using a long brush. If you have an extra budget, you may apply an all-purpose cleaner after the dish soap for a whiter result. It will also kill the bacteria and germs living in your toilet. It would be better to replace the toilet seats. Don’t forget to clean and sanitize the toilet paper, faucets, and handle.
Tip No. 3: Make the Kitchen Smells Better
Cabinets. You don’t want to prepare your food in a stinky kitchen. Start the cleaning process by reaching the overhead cabinets, make sure that you dust off properly, and wipe it with a clean cloth on both the inside and outside. You may use a mixture of vinegar and warm water and pour it on a spray bottle. Spray all over your cabinets to get rid of the greases and stinky smell. Dry it with a clean cloth. Do the same with your counters and drawers.
Refrigerator: Remove all the shelves and drawers inside your cabinet and wash them using warm water and soap. Make a solution of equal parts of water and white vinegar for the inside. Damp a clean cloth using the solution and scrub down all the surfaces from inside and out. Dry up everything and return the shelves and drawers.
Tip No. 4: Make a Room to Room Cleaning
Use our tip no.1 for every room that you are going to clean.
Brighter window. Clean the windows using a glass cleaner to make them shinier and allow more light inside the room. Vacuum the window frame, screen, and sills. It is better to clean the windows at night to better see the grime and streaks.
Dust the Door. The door in every room should not be neglected. Dust first the top edge of the door frame and top of the door. Then wipe it to remove the smudges and fingerprints.
Here are the other things inside the room that you need to consider:
- Door handle and doorknob
- Light switches
- Cabinet pulls and handles
- Closet interiors
Tip No. 5: Finish Cleaning The Floor
All the dust, grimes, and dirt from the top is now piled on the floor. For wood (whether it is hardwood, engineered wood, or laminate wood-like floors), tile, and linoleum floors, start by sweeping to remove those big trash or debris. Then use a vacuum attachment to pick up debris on every corner and edge. Dust of all the carpets and better if you do steam cleaning. You can finish the process by doing a good mop on the floor with the appropriate cleaning solution for the type of your floor.
